Deployment Trip to Egypt

Emergency aid for refugees in Egypt

On our latest deployment, we delivered essential supplies to hundreds of refugees who have escaped from Gaza.

Egypt’s refugee crisis

Since the bombing started, Egypt has welcomed more than 100,000 refugees from Gaza. For most, their travel visa has expired and they’re in legal “limbo”, with no right to public healthcare or schools. These refugees – most of whom have left jobs and homes – are struggling for food, unable to afford critical healthcare, and forced to share shelters.

Egypt’s refugee crisis

Our local partners are working hard to deliver your donations during this crisis. In October, Salam Charity took a team of staff and volunteers to distribute additional aid. It included:

  • 50 food packs (each feeding a family for one month)
  • 100 blankets
  • 200 whole chickens
  • 4 cases of household furniture

Personal support for 161 families

The team draws on a cash fund to distribute individual grants to people in need. We prioritise people who are unwell, elderly or disabled and need help to pay their utility bills or rent. The grants can be used for other things, too. Sometimes this means buying an entire set of furniture, and sometimes funding an emergency operation.

In Egypt, we gave cash to 161 families. We also funded two medical surgeries and provided start-up grants to two people with proposals to launch their own businesses.

How you can help

Refugees in Egypt are living with immense grief, shock, and loss – on top of their day-to-day struggle. We’re committed to delivering as much aid as possible, but we need your hep to keep going.

Please help. Give whatever you can to help us deliver the essentials on our next trip to Egypt.
