The hugely popular dragon boat race is back again at Fairlop Waters with teams of 17 eager to battle it out against each other to be crowned champion dragon boaters.
But we have thrown a spanner in the works and upped it a notch! At Salam Charity, we like a bit of healthy competition, that’s why we’ve pit girls against boys to decide who really is the king or queen of the water. The cause
Poverty robs people of their dignity and confidence. They are denied their basic human rights with no hope of escaping this vicious cycle. Our structured community development programmes give entire communities the opportunity to lead themselves out of poverty by providing them with shelter, education and healthcare.
The format
Dragon boat racing is a forward-facing rowing competition with 16 rowers and 1 drummer at the bow. The specialist dragon boat company will provide a cox who will steer from the rear. No previous experience is required as each team be will inducted individually on the day.
You can be safe in the knowledge that your safety is our number one priority and we are working with a specialist dragon boat events company who is providing all legal, health and safety, and public liability cover for the event.
Location
Fairlop Waters, Forest Road Barkingside, Essex, IG6 3HN It is easily accessible from the M25, via the A12, also from the city of London, via the A11 and A12.
It is also conveniently positioned for ease of transport via the Central Line to Fairlop and Barkingside stations, which are only a short walk to the complex.
