SALAM CHARITY ON THE GROUND WITHIN 48 HOURS OF THE EXPLOSION

A massive explosion has rocked Bierut, the capital of Lebanon on 4th August 2020. It is feared that hundreds of people have been killed and thousands more injured in what has been described as one of the worst disasters the country has ever seen.

The source of the catastrophe is yet unknown, but officials are working hard to find the cause of the disaster. The city has been thrown into mass confusion in the blast that has been felt as far afield as Cyprus

Thanks to our strong partner network in Lebanon we have been able to deploy aid workers to the very heart of the disaster within 48 hours and distribute life saving water and bread to those whose lives have been upturned in the blink of an eye.

“We, Lebanese, have always prided ourselves on being self-reliant. We have never known what it felt like to ask for handouts, but this explosion has shown us that the world is united in our cause and Salam Charity has been there to restore dignity to all those who have been affected” said Jihan Kaisi, a Salam Charity (partner) aid worker who has been working around the clock in the aftermath of the explosion.

We will continue our life saving work on the ground and continue to distribute food and water to the vulnerable and medical supplies to the overstretched hospitals and surgeries.
