Why we’ve funded this campaign:

Jordan is sheltering more than 700,000 refugees from Syria and Gaza. 53% of refugees are classed as “food insecure”, meaning they have difficulties meeting their basic needs. Last year, 7.4% of children under 5 suffered from stunted growth due to malnutrition.

Progress

What is the objective?

This deployment trip had two aims: firstly, delivering essential supplies and financial aid to support hundreds of people, and secondly, developing awareness about the situation in the country. Our presence in refugee camps and vulnerable parts of Jordan helps to foster long-term hope.

Who does this campaign help?

We met and helped hundreds of vulnerable people in Jordan, including Gazan families, Jordanian orphans, Syrian families, and local female entrepreneurs.

How has this campaign been going?

On the deployment, our team worked incredibly hard – distributing 260 food packs (enough to feed 1,300 people for 30 days), constructing 6 hygienic and accessible toilets in Al Mafraq camp, and providing hot meals for 30 families. We identified and supported 3 local business initiatives, covered electric bills for 100 Gazan families, and offered financial aid to those in need. The campaign funded psychosocial support courses, supplied Eid clothes for 50 Jordanian orphans, and also included an orphans’ fun day. The team bought a house for one family and paid rent for others in need.

How has this campaign changed lives?

Our team delivered food to hundreds, and they delivered long-lasting change, too: constructing 6 new toilets for better hygiene; supporting small businesses; paying utility bills and sponsoring a psychosocial support programme – all of which will improve health and wellbeing in the community.

What’s next for this campaign?

With help from our local partners, we’ll continue to support and monitor the projects, ensuring their sustainability and effectiveness. By maintaining close contact with the communities, we can respond promptly to emerging needs and make a tangible difference.

We have more deployments planned for Jordan, Lebanon, Pakistan, and more.
